Commenting on East Lothian Council’s announcement of its intention to demolish the Brunton Hall, Douglas Alexander said:
“I know how important the Brunton Hall and Theatre have been to the local community and to the whole of East Lothian over the years.
“However, there are clearly very serious problems with the fabric of the building, and I understand that difficult decisions will have to be made on its future. I will be discussing this with representatives of East Lothian Council and indeed my East Edinburgh colleague Chris Murray MP.
“Personally, I would be very keen that arts provision is maintained in a location that has meant so much to so many local people for so long.”
