Douglas Alexander MP for Lothian East constituency
Commenting on the news that Police Scotland has confirmed the closure of three police stations in East Lothian – North Berwick, Dunbar and Prestonpans – Douglas Alexander MP said:
“As I highlighted when these closures were first proposed, a physical police presence has always been valued by communities.
“East Lothian’s towns have been used to having local police stations for a long time, offering some sense of reassurance and deterrence for communities.
“Losing these stations will potentially have a negative impact in Dunbar, North Berwick and Prestonpans, and it will be important that Police Scotland delivers on its commitment to ensure their officers continue to be visible and responsive to incidents in the towns.”
