Commenting on proposals from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service for changing services across Scotland, including closing Musselburgh’s station and replacing Tranent’s with a new-build station, Douglas Alexander MP said:

“The proposed investment in a new fire station for Tranent is welcome news and should mean better provision for the local area and improved conditions for staff.

“However, I intend to listen carefully to the views of colleagues and the FBU regarding the proposed closure of Musselburgh’s station.

“I would also urge anyone with questions or concerns about the SFRS proposals for our area to respond to the consultation and highlight their views.”

Consultation responses can be made at Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
