Douglas Alexander MP has welcomed the success of Preston Lodge High School (PLHS) Pipe Band who have retained their title as the world’s best state school pipe band.
For the first time, the school took three bands to the world championships, which were held in Glasgow: juvenile, novice A and Novice B.
PLHS’ juvenile band finished in fifth place overall, meaning they retained their status as the best state school pipe band in the world – a title they have now won for the fourth year in a row.
Commenting on the band’s success, Douglas Alexander MP said:
“I’m delighted that Preston Lodge High School’s Pipe Band are once again the best state school pipe band in the world!
“My warmest congratulations to the teachers, parents and pupils for this brilliant result.”
