Family Business Week, which is taking place between 23 and 27 November, celebrates the role family-owned businesses in the UK play in driving local growth across the UK.

Throughout the week, Family Business UK will spotlight how family-owned firms create jobs, strengthen communities, invest locally and support a more resilient UK economy.

The campaign is designed to share success stories, showcase impact and encourage wider recognition of the long-term contribution family businesses make in towns, cities and regions nationwide.

Commenting on his support for the week and its ‘Local Growth’ theme, Douglas Alexander MP said:

“Family businesses are about more than what they do. They create local jobs, support other businesses, invest in their communities and contribute to the long-term prosperity of the places they call home.

“Across generations, family businesses are helping to build stronger local economies — from employing people in our communities to supporting local suppliers, charities and community initiatives.

“This Family Business Week, I’m pleased to recognise the family businesses in the Lothian East constituency and help celebrate the people, stories and communities behind them.

“Thank you to Family Business UK (FBUK) for shining a light on the vital contribution family businesses make here and across the country and for championing their crucial role.”
