Douglas Alexander MP is encouraging constituents to consider volunteering for or donating to this year’s Winter Food Collection, run by Tesco, The Trussell Trust, and Felix.
Tesco’s Winter Food Collection gives it a chance to welcome volunteers from its two partner charities, Trussell and Felix, into stores to gather long-life food for distribution to local community groups and food banks.
This year’s collections are taking place in local Tesco stores between Thursday 26th and Saturday 28th November.
Constituents are urged to consider if they can donate or volunteer on one of the collection days. Collection points with volunteers staffing them are more likely to receive donations, so volunteering can really help make a difference for those in need.
Douglas Alexander MP said:
“The Winter Food Collection makes a significant contribution to efforts to tackle food poverty by benefiting the vital work of important food charities across the UK .
“The public in East Lothian has a proud track record of supporting these collections and I would encourage everyone to consider donating again this year if they are able.”
