Douglas Alexander MP for Lothian East constituency

Douglas Alexander MP has visited Dunbar Harbour to learn more about the challenges facing the historic community facility and the Dunbar Harbour Trust’s exciting plans for its protection and future development.
Mr Alexander met with representatives of the trust at McArthur’s Store before being given a tour of the harbour and an update on the town’s fishing fleet and various local leisure and private users.
The trustees then walked the MP through the current improvement objectives for the harbour, as well as some of the longer term plans it has been developing for enhancing the harbour’s infrastructure and expanding its use for leisure and other activities.
Commenting after the visit, Douglas Alexander MP said:
“It was a pleasure to visit Dunbar Harbour and meet with members of the harbour trust team. This maritime and community facility is an integral part of the town’s history and heritage but clearly also has a crucial role to play in its future.
“I welcomed the opportunity to hear more about some of the current challenges facing the harbour and its users, and to discuss the trust’s ambitious plans for preserving and improving it in the years ahead.”
John-Robert Eunson from Dunbar Harbour Trust said:
