Douglas Alexander MP has joined Martin Whitfield MSP on a visit to the Pennypit Outdoor Pursuits (POPS) Group near Tyninghame.

A partnership between the Pennypit Trust, the Bridge Centre Motorcycle Project and Edinburgh College, POPS supports pupils from Preston Lodge High School to stay in school, help move them into a positive destination, such as further education or employment, and provides volunteering opportunities and work experience.

The project also supports the young people to build and enhance their personal skills, such as confidence and resilience.

Speaking after the visit, Douglas Alexander MP said:

“I welcomed the opportunity to join Martin in visiting the Pennypit Outdoor Pursuits Group and finding out more about it. The project makes a real difference to the pupils who are involved, supporting their learning and personal skills.

“This is just one of many excellent projects run by the Pennypit Trust, which have such a positive impact on the lives of families and young people in the communities it serves.”
