Douglas Alexander MP for Lothian East constituency
Douglas Alexander MP has welcomed a group of students from Preston Lodge High School to Westminster as part of a wider visit to London.
The Lothian East MP met the group at the entrance to the spectacular Westminster Hall and took them into the Houses of Parliament.
Mr Alexander then showed them around key parts of the House of Commons and answered some of their questions about his role as their local MP, the history of the buildings, and how laws are made in the UK parliament.
Commenting after the visit, Douglas Alexander MP said:
“It was a huge privilege to be able to show this impressive group of Preston Lodge students around the House of Commons as part of their trip to London.
“They asked some really engaging and interesting questions about the UK parliament and the work of MPs, and are a genuine credit to their teachers, their parents and their local community.”
