Douglas Alexander MP is inviting schools, community groups and individuals in the Lothian East constituency to get involved in UK Parliament Week (UKPW) 2026.
UKPW is an annual event aimed at spreading the word about Parliament, what it does, and how the public can get involved – this year it’s taking place from 23-29 November.
Last year 2.8 million people took part in over 20,000 activities across every nation and region of the UK, as well as many other countries all over the world.
Hundreds of youth groups, community organisations and schools in constituencies across the United Kingdom have already signed up to participate in this year’s UKPW.
Everyone who signs up for UK Parliament Week will be posted a free kit packed with resources, including a booklet (with information and activity ideas tailored for youth groups, primary and secondary schools, or adults), a ballot box, bunting and stickers.
Douglas Alexander MP said:
“UK Parliament Week is a unique opportunity for schools, youth groups and communities to discover more about the UK Parliament and how decisions are made there.
“There’s been good participation in the week from this constituency in the past and I’m eager to see local schools and groups join in again this year to find out about the work of the UK Parliament.”
